About Us
Johny
Johny was born in the Republic of Moldova where he started his ballroom dance career at the early age of five. After many successful competitions, he was a finalist at the 2006 “World Championship in Standard Formation” held in Moscow. After that, he continued to be a finalist and winner at national and international competitions in Italy, Slovenia, Slovakia, Germany, Luxembourg, Belgium, France, Moldova, Russia and the Ukraine. At the age of 16, he moved to Romania where he started a successful new dance partnership. Representing Romania, he was a finalist at national championships and was selected to represent Romania at the “European Union Cup”. He attended DanceSport Institute and became a member of one of the most prestigious dance teams in Italy.
Ion graduated from high school with a specialty in sports education. He earned a Bachelors degree at Babes-Bolyai University of Cluj Napoca with a major in Physical Education and Sports, His education helped him discover new horizons in his dance career. While at the university, he successfully managed a dance studio. His students were winners and finalists at national competitions in Romania. In 2016, Ion and his wife emigrated to the United States. He continued teaching ballroom dancing and began participating in Pro-Amateur competitions with his students. He and his amateur partners have won medals at every competition they have attended.
Ion is founder and co-owner of the Gold Ballroom Dance Studio where he teaches and contributes to the development of the dance community in southern Delaware. He and his wife are professional dance partners and collaborate with some of the best coaches in the country.

Diana
Diana journey is one of passion, determination, and a dream to share the love of dance with others. Born in the Republic of Moldova, Diana’s fascination with dance began early, performing in her school’s dance troupe and exploring various styles. At 16, she moved to Romania to further her education, focusing on teaching while expanding her talents in dance and theater. She participated in numerous competitions, concerts, and even televised events.
Diana pursued a degree in Economics and Business Management at Babes-Bolyai University in Cluj Napoca, blending her artistic passion with practical business skills and later on this skills helped her to own her own business. After meeting her husband, their shared love of dance led them to the United States in 2016. As professional dance partners, they trained with top U.S. and international coaches, achieving significant success, including winning many titles in Rising Star and Professional Ballroom competitions across the USA, Europe, and the United Kingdom.
Diana believes that knowledge and experience are the keys to success.
Her background in dance, finance, and working with people inspired her to open Gold Ballroom Dance Studio. Here, she combines her expertise and love of teaching to help students of all levels achieve their dance goals, from beginners to champions. Her Pro-Am students compete nationally and internationally, earning top results.
Diana’s mission is to show that anyone can become the dancer they dream of being. Through her dedication and passion, she inspires others to discover the joy, confidence, and transformative power of dance.
Zara
Zara, originally from the Republic of Moldova, is a distinguished dance instructor at the Gold Ballroom Dance Studio. He began dancing at eight and has since become a medalist in numerous national and international competitions, including the title of National Moldavian Champion.
At Gold Ballroom Dance Studio, Zara shares his passion for dance with students of all levels, from beginners to advanced dancers. He is dedicated to creating an engaging and supportive learning environment, helping his students improve their skills, build confidence, and enjoy the many benefits of dancing.

Giancarlo
Originally from the region of Puglia, Italy, Giancarlo began dancing at the age of seven in his local studio and quickly showed great talent and dedication. By fourteen, he had already won multiple national championships in International Standard and Latin.
After years of training with top-level coaches and competing across Europe and the U.S., Giancarlo decided to share his passion and experience through teaching and professional competitions.
Now based in the United States, he teaches both American and International styles, guiding students of all levels to discover the joy of dance—whether socially or competitively. Gold Ballroom is proud to have Giancarlo as part of our team and dance family, inspiring others to grow and achieve their goals through the art of ballroom dance.
